I'm a graphic designer. There are basic principles of graphic design that a graphic designer uses regardless of the collateral they are designing. We all use some form/variation of these listed principles; contrast, balance, color, emphasis, unity, rhythm, scale and proportion.
When I look at sports uniforms today, I see such a lack of these principles, it makes me wretch. It is amazing how far we have departed from what I call "The Golden Age of Uniforms". This era was the 40's, 50's and 60's and just into the early 70's. The 60's being the pinnacle of this era.
What made this era the "Golden Age" was the sophisticated use of graphic design principles. Sports uniform designers of my Golden Age relied on these principles. They designed uniforms with care, poise, finesse and class.
In future posts, I will cover the different sports and go into greater details about why I loved the Golden Age and what happened to that sports' uniforms.
I will also be using this blog to hopefully give you deeper insight on thoughts I have about uniforms in general, not always sports uniforms.

Introducing the new and improved For The Love of Uniforms
Hello fellow uni lovers. I'm back. I took a long break to collect myself and figure out what I wanted to do with this blog. I decided I needed to start fresh so you will see no old posts. I'm just going to rant and talk and go on and on as thoughts come to me. My blog is going to be more spontaneous and geared to whatever uni is on my mind. It may get heavy in sports at times and then superheroes and then fashion and then graphic design and then back to sports. But, mostly my blog will be about sports uniforms.
I am very set in my ways and there is a reason behind the madness of how I want a uni to look. I'll get into that later. For now, rest assured, I will educate you on the ins and outs of good uniforms.
Enjoy the reads and post comments. I'll try to respond back as I enjoy the banter. I'll be respectful and would ask that you be too.
