AP worthy of SI cover, his uni is not.
Adrian "All Day" Peterson got this week's SI cover. He deserves it. His uni does not. It's too bad the Vikings ruined their uni. They do wear the 70's throwbacks every so often. Take a look at what Peterson should be wearing. And then compare to the greats he is a combination of; Brown, Sayers, Payton and Sanders (Sanders had the misfortune of playing in the days of artificial turf (a.k.a., carpet), white cleats, colored facemasks, iron on numbers and giant shoulder pads.......sigh.

The Golden Age of pro football
WOW! Hey NIKE, take note. Color. Bold design. Simple and clean. Black cleats with white laces. Stripes on the socks in most cases. But, it works if not. This is just classic, clean, great design kids.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

College football's 2012 Championship game uni preview
Here are my
thoughts and then you can enjoy the pictorial review of what is going to be a classic.
1. Play the damn thing NOW! Stop this madness of having over a month to prepare. They say Saban can beat anyone if you give him a month to prepare. I'm not sure that is something that college football should be proud of. Play. It. NOW! Then let the bowl games be what they should be, a celebration.
2. Not sure if you know this story, but it's a good one and pertains to this year's ND team. The last time ND played for the national championship, it had been a while since they had played for it all (not nearly as long as THIS time, but back in 1988 it had been just over a decade and at that time, that was a really long drought for the ND faithful). So everyone is either asking Holtz or telling him, that he should break out the green jerseys. It had also been a long time since they had done that. But, Holtz knew what everyone else didn't, that he had one hell of a team! He said they didn't need them. There was much hand wringing and then ND goes out and crushes West Virginia. If current ND head coach Brian Kelly is smart, here is how he should play this. My guess is that Saben is telling his team that ND is going to trot out the green jerseys because he's telling his team that that's the only way ND will think they have a shot at winning. So he's going to fire them up to be all about crushing the green jersey mystic. If you are not aware of how the green jersey thing works, they are put on after warm ups. The players go back in the locker room after warm ups and if the coach has decided to wear them, they are hanging in the lockers. The story goes that the players are never told if they will be there so it fires them up if they are there. Then they storm the field in the green. So, if I were Kelly, I'd anticipate this and come out in the blue. This would in essence be like running out of the tunnel and giving a great big middle finger to Saban, "Hey Nick! You thought we needed green jerseys to beat you?! Well, think again asshole. We don't need green jerseys to kick your ass!" But, unlike Holtz, I wouldn't squalsh the idea that it might happen, so that you can surprise Saban.
3. Regardless of how much I hate Saban, it's going to be a beautiful game!! Yes, most of the Tide players will wear the black and white combo cleats (blech!), but many will have black. And on the ND side of the ball, there will be lots of white laces in the black cleats! This one is going to be a treat to watch. As I was researching this game, only one time in the 6 meetings between these two teams, has ND worn home colors. In 1976 they wore the blue jerseys. And we all know that if it was '76, that meant white cleats on both sides of the ball (double blech!). So this one is going to be a classic, as we won't have that nightmare to look at.
Oh, and wake me up in a month when they are FINALLY ready to play the damn game!
